"Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." Paul to the persecuted at Philippi (2:5-11)

A mundane little sijo:

Cashmere sweater, cotton skirt. Way too dressed up for taking the boys
Just to piano lessons and home again on a rainy day.
Thumping, thumping, in the dryer, my soggy jeans-- Laundry day.

  1. Eastern Point

On a stormy day, the horizon fades into the fog,
Waves foam over the reef stones, gulls flock up and sit on the rocks,
The lighthouse beacon cannot be seen, what good is it? What good?

On a stormy day, retreat house silence is even more quiet,
Pilgrims find nooks to nod in and corners to coop in,
No one walks the yard or shore or roads, a fire is lit.

On a stormy day, John 14, one to eleven,
Comforts souls, but a smarmy pilgrim is heard to say,
A house full of Jesuits should not admit - they can’t stop the rain.
