"Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." Paul to the persecuted at Philippi (2:5-11)

A Post-Season Lament, with apologies to Simon and Garfunkel

Cincinnati, you’re breaking my heart,

You’re shaking my confidence daily.

Cincinnati, I’m down on my knees,

I’m begging you please to run home.

Playing ball in the afternoon with the Phillies,

No-hitter post-season (post-season!)

I got up to grab a beer, when I come back to watch

Game two lead disappeared.

Cincinnati, you’re breaking my heart,

You’re shaking my confidence daily.

Cincinnati, I’m down on my knees,

I’m begging you please to run home.

Jubilation, they’re playing at home,

No! down one to zip, just first inning.

Jubilation, its’ post-season play,

Don’t lose this one now, Cincinnati!

  2. Anything can happen in baseball... or otherwise said "It ain't over 'till its over."
Of course, one more inning and it'll be over. Alas.

  3. David, you logged in here just to post that didn't you? You owe me a beer, bro. Winner buys; them's the rules.

  4. I'll gladly buy you a beer anytime. I apologize for gloating. As a Pirate fan for the past 30 or so years it is not something I have had the pleasure of doing very often.

Do you really consider Cincy to be a small market team?
